Where are we now?

View Where are we now? in a larger map Jo, Annie, Miles and I are living in Northport, Alabama and working at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. We've been glad to be in one place for a bit after what appeared to be semi-permanently traveling (in actuality for a period of 2.5 years). We started this blog to catalogue some of the adventures when Jo and I were sequentially conducting our dissertation research in India and Brazil. While we've fallen off the blogging bandwagon somewhat during recent trips to Brazil, we're trying to pick it up again now that we're back in India!

Week 2 with Annie

Parent's always say they can't believe how fast time flies and their baby has grown up. Well, we might not be quite there yet, but it sure is hard to believe that today is Annie's two week birthday!!! Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, you know the rest.

This week we've been lucky enough to have two other good friends join Sarah at Hostel da Bebe (also known as Chateaux Cry-alot, or Casa Cranky-pants). Emilia and Beth are two friends, who along with Sarah, we got to know while living in Jaipur four years ago. They all did the AIIS Hindi language program together, and so this is somewhat of a reunion!

Yesterday morning Beth arrived, and last night Emilia arrived.

With six people (well 5 and a baby) in our 2 bedroom apartment we've quite a full apartment--full of fun that is!

Emilia and Annie snuggling up

The ladies are quite smitten with our darling Annie (who can blame them?) and have been introducing her to all sorts of Indian culture:

Sarah putting on Annie's first bindi

Annie with bindi, and proof that she's becoming a "little tub" in the joking words of her Bubby!

Sarah appreciating her handiwork (Annie seems a little nonplussed)

Beth shows Annie her henna artwork (next step: Annie gets a henna tattoo)

And what would a ladies' reunion be without some mega-mall retail therapy?

Off to the mall for the first time!

Oh the places we shall go!
